The Story of

"L" O

"LOVER" is the rocking new single from CHERIE LAURENT that is a reminder that sometimes you just need to let your hair down and explore your sexy side of life. Catchy, sensual, and powerful from start to finish!

“LOVER” is CHERIE LAURENT’s sound of gratitude, freedom, happiness and fun and for all the people that she loves in her life.

It is her expression of gratitude and appreciation to the country of Australia, the country that she is proud to call home and that opened its arms and heart to her when she was a newly arrived immigrant.

Cherie’s inspiration for “Lover” stems back to her first beginnings when she when she freshly immigrated to Australia and was not familiar with the word "Oi.”  She came from a country that drives, as Australians call it, " on the wrong side of the road" which is the opposite of what they do in the United States and some other countries.  Cherie was getting nearly hit by cars quite often every time she crossed the road because she was looking in the wrong direction. People screamed "Oi " at her almost every few seconds as she navigated the streets.  She didn’t know the meaning of that word and wasn’t sure if it was good or bad.

While in NYC, during “Fleet Week" there were so many good looking American sailors in their beautiful white pressed uniforms parading around that made Cherie’s heart flutter and cheeks blush, and probably other women’s too.  The sailors would ask her where she was from and she always said “ I am Australian” and they immediately started using " Oi " to refer to her as the Australian girl.  Now she adopted the term as her own and uses it wherever she goes out.

It’s an “Australian thing” too and she loves it.
